Come Dance With Me

Moopus McGlinden, the lovable side-kick to Mrs. Pinkelmeyer will be dancing and singing along with Santa this Saturday morning December 10, at 8:30am at the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton.

Mrs. Pinkelmeyer, Silliest Warmest Know-It-All, and her lovable sidekick Moopus McGlinden inspire self-esteem in children through their love warmth and silliness.

Moopus McGlinden and Singin With Susan will be performing along with Santa at a Breakfast with Santa this Saturday December 10 at 8:30 am. They will be at the Town Center mall in Boca Raton, FL. Moopus is loved by all that know him and he warms the hearts of children and families.

Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and Moopus McGlinden were created in a quick thinking move by Jennifer Kelman while she was taking care of her nephew while his parents were away. Henry was suffering terribly from separation anxiety and Kelman could not do anything to calm his anxieties until from out of her imagination sprung Mrs. Pinkelmeyer.

Kelman picked up the telephone and pretended to call the lovely fictitious character of Mrs. Pinkelmeyer. “Of course she had a British accent, as I did not think my NY accent would be funny to my nephew,” Kelman says. She answered the phone in her usual happy fashion and began to make Henry giggle and laugh with tales of Moopus’ adventures. Henry laughed so hard that he forgot how much he missed his parents. Mrs. Pinkelmeyer came to the rescue that cold winter evening many years ago and since then has been delighting families all over the country.

Kelman has now brought these characters to life and created a complete product line including plush dolls, music and a book series based on the adventures of Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and Moopus McGlinden.

Both characters have also been developed into mascot costumes and can be seen around town doing events such as this one at the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton. “They dance with the kids and give hugs and it is a great feeling. And now to be paired with Santa, I couldn’t be more pleased,” says Kelman.

This won’t be the only event, so stay tuned for more Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and Moopus McGlinden happenings by visiting with us.

Check out Moopus dancing at rehearsal.

Surviving the Terrible Twos

Friday, November 4th, 2011

The terrible twos: just hearing that can bring many parents to their knees, but how about going through that stage with twins?  When expectant parents receive the news it is often met with competing emotions such as exhilaration and sometimes downright fear.  These parents may not be equipped yet on how to make it through a tough pregnancy, let alone surviving the terrible twos with twins.

The first year with twins can go by quickly mostly because parents are completely exhausted and walk around in a fog due to lack of sleep.   Routines for themselves are on the back burner in order to care for the infants.  During these times, family and friends are around to help and this reduces some of the heavy load while trying to adjust to a whole new way of being.  As the second year of the twin’s lives approaches the outside help dissipates somewhat and parents are left to their own devices to make it through. The idea of taking a long, hot shower becomes increasingly enticing, yet still out of reach.  It is just not possible to take those few minutes while the twins are now climbing on everything in sight.  It is time to set up a game-plan in order to survive the terrible twos.

Mrs. P Wins Dr. Toy Award

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Mrs. Pinkelmeyer Plush, Singing Doll has won the coveted Dr. Toy award. Dr. Toy’s Best Vacation Children’s Products Awards were developed by noted child development authority, Stevanne Auerbach, Ph.D. (a.k.a. Dr. Toy), as a service to consumers who desire to purchase safe, affordable, educationally-oriented, and stimulating toys and play products for children for vacation time at home or on the road.

“As a childhood specialist for 40 years,” says Dr. Toy, “I have seen the continuous, essential need for more year-round resources for consumers to identify and choose the most appropriate products for all children.”

Dr. Toy reports that in the years the innovative on-line magazine, Dr. Toy’s Guide, has been available, “thousands of visitors daily from around the world have accessed its information.” It was the first web site to evaluate toys and children’s products. The report is being released, according to Dr. Toy, to “encourage parents and teachers to focus on the value of play during the summer as essential to the overall learning process.”

Dr. Toy’s Best Vacation Children’s Products are carefully chosen, using extensive criteria she has developed over many years, from among hundreds she has reviewed at toy fairs, in catalogs, and through many other sources. The criteria she uses includes: safety, age-appropriateness, design, durability, lasting play value, cultural and ethnic diversity, good transition from home to school, educational value, learning skills, creativity, improvement in the understanding of the community and the world, good value for price, and, naturally, fun.

“It is such a great honor to be given this award by Stevanne Auerbach, Ph.D, a true leader and innovator in the toy industry, says Jennifer Kelman creator of the indelible Mrs. Pinkelmeyer.

Dr. Auerbach, a long-time resident of San Francisco, originally from New York City, lived in Washington, DC, while working for the Department of Education where she approved the first proposal for “Sesame Street” and established the first day care center for children of federal employees. In San Francisco, she established the San Francisco International Toy Museum, the world’s first “hands-on” toy museum visited by over 50,000 children. She is the author of 15 books (including The Toy Chest, Toys for a Lifetime, The Whole Child, and Choosing Child Care) and hundreds of articles on toys and play, and is the only Ph.D. in Child Development evaluating toys and children’s products with extensive training, background, and over 40 years of experience evaluating, writing and speaking about toys and children’s products. Dr. Auerbach is trained in child development, education, child psychology and special education. She is an educator, consultant, parent, and playful grandparent.

Ooooh Dear!

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

It has been too long since I have connected with you and I do hope you will accept my apologies. Moopus and I have been so busy.

This brings me to my latest topic. As I sit here and write to you I am poised to give you many reasons and excuses why it has been so long that I have been in touch. But, I don’t want to do that. I want to be up front and just offer an apology.

In today’s busy world we can all get caught up in our lives that we may forget to reach out to those that are important to us. I am reaching out to you to let you know that you are important to Moopus and me and we are thrilled that you visit with us here.

I am enjoying a relaxing morning watching the French Open (Moopus and I love tennis) and returning phone calls that are long overdue.  Reaching and and connecting makes me feel wonderful.  Please reach out to those that you care about and let them know how you feel.

Enjoy a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

With love and care,

Mrs. Pinkelmeyer

Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and Moopus Meet Santa

Friday, March 25th, 2011

Ooooohhhh Dear. What a wonderful time Moopus and I had when we met with Santa Claus Via Skype. Now, hush hush my little dearies, I know what you are thinking….how could I be using Skype? I must admit I was a bit worried at first and a bit modest, but that lovely Santa Claus reassured me and told me I looked beautiful. He really knows how to flatter. Not only did I Skype with Santa but he also made our conversation into a podcast that is available on his website. Yes, yes I know…Santa even has his own website now. For us old fashioned folks, we have had to do what is necessary to keep up with our younger friends.
Anyway, enough of my silliness because Santa and I, along with my creator, Jennifer Kelman, tackled a very serious issue that is happening across the world, and that is the issue of bullying.
Jennifer and Santa took an in depth look at the problem and identified warning signs and what to do if we are seeing or experiencing bullying. Our goal is to bring this issue to the forefront of all of our minds and help all children. Bullies and their victims both need a safe place to talk about the issue. Parents, school administrators, and peers, keep the dialogue going and intervene before it is too late.
Please visit Santa’s website to hear the podcast and look around. Also check out his Hot Toys section as Moopus and I get a wonderful mention. Of course we are the Hot Toy, what took Santa so long to jump on board?!

PINKELMEYER FEVER: VERY CONTAGIOUS!

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

Who is Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and what is “Pinkelmeyer Fever?” The most obvious answer is that I am the Silliest, Warmest Know-It-All(TM),with my lovable side-kick Moopus McGlinden(TM).  But I am more than that. I am an idea, kind of like a virus.  An idea of who and what you need me to be. As many of you already know, I was developed years ago out of sheer desperation and need when a young boy was missing his parents. The idea came to be when a young woman, so desperate to comfort her Nephew, let her imagination run wild and out came me , a lovely lady providing love and comfort to a young woman and her nephew in need.
I was an idea that night and every night after that as young Henry needed warmth and comfort while his parents were away. But from this idea things have begun to spread.  Moopus likes to call it “Pinkelmeyer Fever,” and I must warn you it appears to be VERY contagious.

My silly ways along with Moopus’ constant adventures are warming the hearts of all who know us.  More importantly than who I am is the very idea of who you need and want me to be.  My warmth and love provide the comfort that is needed during different times in all of our lives.  I certainly am not a replacement for anyone, but I like to think of myself as a wonderful fill-in for those moments when something or someone else is needed.

The beautiful thing about “Pinkelmeyer Fever,” is that anyone can catch it and that is the good news.  It appears that once I touch your life I am hard to get rid of.  Whether you are cuddling with my own plush doll along with Moopus,  reading one of my children’s books, playing our music CD or watching one of our hilarious music videos I am right there with you and whatever you need I am always there.  So think of me often as the lovely young boy did many years ago.  Let the idea of me permeate, share this joy with others and spread “Pinkelmeyer Fever.” You will be happy that you did.

With love and care,

Mrs. Pinkelmeyer

Mrs. Pinkelmeyer Finds Joy in Holiday Giving

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Greeeetings My Dear Friends,

Moopus and I are on a crusade and we hope you will join us.  The other night I was struggling to sleep as I was thinking about the upcoming holiday season and how the promotions start earlier and earlier every year.  This is also a time when charities reach out to their loyal donors and potential new ones for their annual giving campaign.  But there are still many children who go without due to financial constraints.  I don’t like to see this and I want to help make a change.

Recently, Moopus and I were purchasing a baby gift online for a friend and I thought to myself, what if I had the opportunity to purchase the same item at a discount so that I can give that item to a local children’s charity?  I am loving this idea more and more as I write it down here today.

I think if we all join together and bring this idea to our local businesses, even the ones online, we can make this happen.  As you all know I have a big heart and am always looking for ways to help others and inspire this in others too. I am urging you to write to your online retailers and ask them to start this holiday campaign that has been created by Mrs. Pinkelmeyer.

Here is how I am going to work this with my own products for sale at www.MrsPinkelmeyer.com/products.html.  For a limited time….beginning now and ending at Christmas, if you purchase an item and buy a second one that is of equal or lesser value you will get a 20% discount on that second item. That item will then be donated to the charity of your choice.  Moopus and I will even send it out directly to the charity including a note from you.

Please call Mrs. Pinkelmeyer at (561) 368-1783 or email me at www.MrsPinkelmeyer.com to take advantage of this wonderful program that I am hoping will sweep the country and let us all truly become a nation of giving. I will give mention on my blog about your kindness and generosity. Moopus and I have also found our joy in this holiday giving and have donated several gift baskets to local charities for this year. Please join us.

With love and care,

Mrs. Pinkelmeyer

With love and licks,

Moopus
